Whilst Elgren’s illustrations might have gotten you hot under the collar once before, there are two sexy kittens on the globe whose works are destined to become just as legendary.

Ever since clapping my eyes on the works of Charlotte Thomson and Maly Siri, I have been an uber fan. Each lady’s take on the pinups and burlesque queens is unique in style but captures the essence of cheeky sass that Elgren was famous for.

Maly Siri’s work having captured the eye of one of my favorite designers Vivienne Westwood, can be seen all over town from taxis to department stores. It was Maly, whom the grand dame of British fashion called upon to illustrate the Naughty Alice perfume campaign. I actually have a copy of the main campaign image on my desk.

Maly’s work is soft yet striking and like Charlotte’s instantly recoginiseable. I love how she capture’s her model’s mood, poise and elegance so well.

Charlotte Thomson’s work is hugely popular, particularly amongst the UK burlesque scene though I saw some of her work whilst on my travels in Australia so clearly superb work travels! Its not hard to see why her work is so popular, her imagine runs wild and illustrations are sublime.

Her work is not just about creating images of pinup queens and burlesque beauties (as if that wasn’t awesome enough?!), Charlotte has also created logos for companies such as Lady Lucks Boutique and Love My Dress. Not to mention her work with CraftArtist and her forthcoming digital scrap booking & crafting kit. Talented little vixen that she is.

I am particularly fond of Charlotte’s poster designs and I know of at least two people who attempt to collect all the posters she designs for her Dr Sketchy’s Nottingham shows. It is also her work outside of the pinup/burlesque subject matter that fans love to. Her gothic/mystical collection of artwork is extremely beautiful.

By the way DO check out her shop the website…oodles of amazing goodies to adorn your house. A fabulous woman who also donated to my ‘Morale Boost For Troops In Afghanistan‘ a huge collection of prints.

So often I am asked about my barnet…how I do it and such like. So I thought I would share some videos from good old YouTube to help all of you hair-crazy lovelies.

Faux Bangs?

Victory Rolls?

Rosie The Riveter Bandana Hairdo?

50s Curl Hairdo?

Failing that you could always get a lesson from the amazing team at The Vanity Box?

Inspired by the recent radio 2 production where the presenters changed time slots with one another…here are my musical offerings.

I heard this song a few months ago whilst channel hopping via iTunes. I love it! I then heard Vanessa Feltz play another of their songs. This is still my favourite.

Some French sixties vibe to get you swaying in the sunshine.

I love this…made sweetier by the vintage burlesque video.

This song is the soundtrack for my latest fan dance… I adore it!!!! Not to be confused with the UK band called Hungry Ghosts.

My god, am I the only one lusting after latex right now!? Ok I know I am not. With models like Anita De Bauch and Nina Kate, it almost impossible to not lust after it when those ladies are sporting it.

Here are my favourite selections so far…BTW did you know Nina Kate owns Jane Doe Latex!? Damn that girl is talented. I’d hate her if I didnt love her work so much and if she wasnt so nice. I actually met her once at Zandra Rhodes Fashion & Textiles Museum. She was delightful!
